Every dog is different, and the best training plan starts with understanding what is actually happening in front of us.

An evaluation gives us a chance to meet you and your dog, talk through the challenges you’re dealing with, see how your dog responds in a neutral environment, and learn what you want life with your dog to look like.

From there, we can recommend the training path that makes the most sense for your dog, your goals, and your situation.

What Happens During an Evaluation?

An evaluation is not about putting your dog through a long list of tests. It is our chance to see the dog in front of us and understand what you are actually dealing with.

We will talk through your dog’s history, the behaviors or challenges you are seeing, what you have already tried, and what you would like to improve. We may also watch how your dog moves through the environment, responds to you, handles distractions, and reacts to different situations that naturally come up during the evaluation.

Just as importantly, we are looking at the relationship between you and your dog. Training is rarely about changing only the dog. Clear communication, timing, consistency, handling, expectations, and the way both sides respond to each other all matter.

By the end of the evaluation, you should have a clearer understanding of what we are seeing and what we believe the best next step may be.

What Comes Next?

An evaluation does not lock you into a program. Its purpose is to help us figure out what makes the most sense for you and your dog.

Depending on what we see, your goals, and how much support you need, we may recommend continuing through Group Classes, working together through Private Training, considering a Board & Train program, or using another STABLE training option that better fits your situation.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Other times, we may suggest starting with one type of training and adjusting as your dog progresses.

Whatever the recommendation, we’ll explain why we’re suggesting it and what we believe you should focus on next.

Is an Evaluation Right for You?

An evaluation is a good place to start if you’re not sure which training option fits your dog, you’re dealing with behavior that needs more individual attention, or you’ve tried training before and still feel stuck.

It can also be helpful if your dog struggles with reactivity, fear, confidence, leash behavior, household issues, or several challenges at once and you want us to see the bigger picture before deciding what comes next.

If you already know that you simply want to join one of our Group Classes or Free Pack Walks, you do not need to schedule an evaluation first.
