Free STABLE Pack Walks
STABLE Pack Walks are free community walks where dogs and their people can practice being out in the real world around other dogs, people, movement, and everyday distractions.
These are not formal group training classes and dogs are not expected to greet or interact with one another. Our focus is on calm exposure, neutrality, leash handling, respecting space, and simply getting outside and doing something productive with your dog.
Dogs of different ages, breeds, training levels, and backgrounds are welcome. Reactive dogs are welcome too, as long as their handler can safely manage them and is willing to give their dog the space they need.
Each walk is a little different depending on the location. Some are short and easy, while others may be longer, busier, or include hills and more challenging terrain. Check the individual walk listing before attending so you know what to expect.
Pack Walks are completely free.
Pack Walk Rules
All dogs are welcome, including reactive dogs. Our goal is to create a safe, respectful environment where everyone has enough space to work with their individual dog.
One handler per dog. Each dog must have their own capable handler for safety and control.
Use a standard leash. No flexi or retractable leashes during Pack Walks.
No nose-to-nose greetings. Dogs are not expected to meet or interact with one another.
Give other teams space. Maintain a comfortable distance between dogs and advocate for your dog if they need more room.
Stay aware of your surroundings. Watch your dog, the environment, and the people and dogs around you.
Reactive dogs are welcome. We may suggest walking toward the front or back of the group, or creating additional distance, so your dog is not overwhelmed.
Respect everyone's training choices. No shaming, arguing about tools, or negative comments toward other handlers.
Walk single-file when practical. This helps keep the group organized and leaves room for other people to pass.
Know your dog's limits. Weather, distance, terrain, age, health, and stress can all affect how much a dog can comfortably handle. It is always okay to turn around or leave early.
Bring water for both you and your dog.
Please arrive on time. We generally wait about 5–10 minutes before beginning the walk.
Have fun. These walks are here to give dogs and their people a place to get outside, practice around real-world distractions, and enjoy being part of the STABLE community.
Group photos are usually taken at the end of the walk, so stick around if you'd like to join us!

Once you get off of Escondido Canyon Rd. carry on on the dirt road until you see an open area with other cars parked and trails. If you open up your phones map, it should show you "Star Trek Historic Film Site" and that's where you want to park. You'll see us!

Chesebrough Park Pack Walk

Join us for a FREE STABLE Pack Walk at Chesebrough Park!

Shorter walk
Easy
Paved cement paths
What to Expect:
Chesebrough is a beautiful green neighborhood park with paved paths running
around it. This is one of our shorter and less demanding Pack Walk locations,
which can make it a nice option for puppies, seniors, newer teams, or dogs and
handlers who prefer an easier route.
Even on a shorter walk, there are still plenty of opportunities to practice leash handling, calm exposure, engagement, and neutrality around the dogs, people, and activity we encounter.

Saint Francis Dam Disaster National Memorial & Monument Pack Walk
Hiya everybody!
Join us for a FREE STABLE Pack Walk at the Saint Francis Dam Disaster National Memorial & Monument!
Walk Details:
Approximately 1.5–2 miles round trip
Easy to moderate
Mostly flatter terrain with some uneven ground
What to Expect:
For this walk, we'll be meeting at the bottom of the route
rather than starting from the top. This gives us a flatter and more manageable
walk while still letting everyone enjoy the area and practice around a
different environment.
The route is approximately 1.5–2 miles round trip. Expect natural terrain, uneven ground in places, and fewer of the typical park distractions we see on some of our other Pack Walks.
As always, work with the dog in front of you. It is completely okay to create extra space, take a break, or turn around early if either you or your dog needs it.
Where We'll Meet:
We will be meeting and parking at the bottom of the route.
If you are coming from the Santa Clarita Valley, continue down San Francisquito Canyon Road toward the dam area. After you pass the DWP facility, look for the parking area on the right side of the road before you cross the bridge.
That is where we will meet before beginning the walk.
IMPORTANT: Cell reception in this area can be very limited or unavailable.
Please check the meeting location and directions before heading out. If you have questions about where to meet us, contact us ahead of time rather than waiting until you are already in the canyon.

Valencia Heritage Park can give us plenty to work around. Expect bikes,

It's a great environment for practicing calm neutrality, leash handling, engagement, and simply learning to move through a busy public space with your dog.

Saint Francis Dam Disaster National Memorial & Monument Pack Walk
Hello everyone!
Who is ready to go give this lovely place a go again?! This is a walk on the old San Francisquito road, which starts off with a large down and uphill section then flattens out before we turn and ahead back. It can be a bit "off-road" for the start.

We will be meeting at the TOP of the trail. Coming from SCV, pass the DWP station, continue over the bridge and head up the hill to the right. You will come to a large space on the right of dirt and you willl most likely see some of us parked there. This is the meeting place and there shouold be ample parking.
There is NO cell reception out here so please read directions carefully and if you have any questions, please ask the day prior. As we're heading down the mountain, we'll have no cell service.

After the down hill on the top, it is flooded with nasty smelling water and algae. 😵💫
When you come up San Francisquito from Copper Hill Dr. and bypass the water tower, to your right there’s going to be this area in the picture, that’s where we can all park. 🫶
This is not a big area to park in, be mindful in how you park. ☺️
